RockShox Revelation RL Review

Feature :

  • Travel : 120mm - 150mm
  • Travel adjustment (120mm/150mm)
  • Dual air system
  • Lockout feature
  • Rebound adjustment (Rabbit & Turtle)
Review :

The physical look of this fork gives it an elegance impression  from the white color with silver decal and also a chromolly silver stanchion. Although this fork has a quite long travel, this fork is categorized as a lightweight fork.

It has a dual air system, is having two air chamber (one on the top, one the bottom of the fork). Things that make differences between a single air fork with dual air fork is that the dual air fork has a bottom air chamber so stabilize the air fork performance. And then we have and advantage when we face an uphill section ; it is travel adjustment. When we climb, we don't have to do the hard work with 150mm travel, because we can adjust our fork's travel to 120mm. So, when we climb the hill, our position will tend to lean forward that will make the climbing easier. Another feature that is also an advantage of this fork is rebound adjustment. With this feature we can adjust how fast or how slow our fork will be compressed. There are two adjustment : 1. Rabbit : fast compression, for downhill
                          2. Turtle  : slow compression, for uphill
And for climbing efficiency or to prevent bobbing, we can use the Rabbit adjustment and also the lockout feature.

With full travel (150mm) and fast rebound compression (Rabbit), we can feel this fork is really responsive to a small bump, so the ride will be really comfortable.

Xpedo G-Force Clipless Pedal review

From the external look, this pedal has a really good look and it also has an eye-catching grey color.

This clipless pedal really help me when climbing the hill. The pedal with our shoes clipped-in, has a really good job on power saving and efficiency. With help from this pedal, we are not just push down the pedal, but we also pull up the pedal, so we have more power and greater acceleration. So with this clipless pedal, we tend to have a long distance riding.

And the other benefit beside for climbing, this great clipless pedal also helps us when we do downhill. When we challenge by a drop off, we can jump easily with confident because the wheel lifting become so easy thanks to the pedal. When we land, we can land safely with an awesome stability. Our foot always clipped-in into the pedal, so we won't slip-off the pedal. And then when we face a stair or a similar obstacle, we can go with full speed without worrying our food would slip-off the pedal.

Lots of issue and rumor spreading all over mountain biking world about this clipless thingy. They said we will be hard to release our foot from the pedal. In fact, all of them got wrong. I've tried this clipless pedal and it works fine for me. But the first time we need to do is to train our foot muscle to always remember the 'clipped-out movement' when we will stop. So it will be a new habit for us.

So if you want to find an efficient, more confident and safer riding, then buy this Xpeedo clipless pedal.

Bali Trip November 2011 Report

On Friday, November 4th 2011 after i finished my recolection with my friends, my father, mother, and my driver picked me up and straight to the airport. Finally at 17:00 we departed and arrived in Bali at 18:30. From the airport we went to Westin Hotel, Nusa Dua and then watched the international women tennis championship, Commonwealth Open. After that we went back to Westin and rested for tomorrow.

The next morning at 07:20 my dad and I had a breakfast in the hotel. And after having the breakfast, we decided to go to the beach to try our luck with the fishing gear. But, the water was still shallow so there just a few small fish. Because of that we didn't catch anything in that day. Then mom, dad, and I left to Benoa Tirta which is the place to play water-sports. My dad and I planned for having a fishing trip, a trolling. Trolling is a technique of fishing using a lure and pulled by the boat at around 20-30km/h. Then the good news is.. we got a pretty good price, and that is about 70 US$ per person, so both of us spent 140 bucks. My mom doesn't want to join us because she can't handle with the big wave. After that my mom went to Bali Galleria and while mommy's shopping my dad and I went back to the beach and rent a jetski for 15 minutes. We pay for about 20 US$ per jetski. We both were having fun together, and I suddenly increased the speed and then my dad was bailed out from the jetski. First I was shocked! But after that what can I do is just sat on the jetski and laughed for my dad. On the way back from Benoa we met my mom and had a pizza to fill up our stomach a little bit. After took a shower my mom and dad went to Ulam had a nice seafood lunch while I stayed in the room that is fulled with AC and pillows (hmm..). I waited for the seafood that my parent will gave me. Then after lunch we all watched the semifinal tennis championship again. After finished watching the tennis match we went straight to Jimbaran Beach to had the best dinner ever in Bali in our favorite restaurant, Menega Cafe. Seafood in Menega was and always be the best and it's not expansive. The beach atmosphere made our night better. Then we went to the hotel and took a rest.

This is the day, my dad and I woke up very early in the morning and went to the beach to took the fishing trip. But bad news came to us, outside there was raining. We both were almost despaired. But then after 30 minutes the rain stopped and finally we went to the ocean at 07:45. We used the trolling boat with 2 engine and carried 2 set of fishing gear. The wave in the middle of the ocean was really big and it made both of us seasick. Because of that my father had thrown up. But after waited for about 1 hour finally we got a strike of  4 little tuna on one fishing rod! What a great feeling. After 3 hour of fishing, we got 20-25 tuna. What an amazing day. Then we went back to the hotel and swam. After mom finished swimming in the hotel pool my dad and I went to the beach again to swam and looked around for a fish. And then I found a sea creature that I have never seen before, and that is sea urchin and Ophiuroidea, it's an sea creature like starfish. Then both of us saw some of the marine fish like John Dory. After lunch and took a shower we went to the championship again for the final. And the Ana Ivanovic was crowned as the champ. And then we went to Haven Hotel in Seminyak to stay there for 2 night. In the night we went out to find dinner. At last we ate in the Indian Restaurant, Queen's Tandoor.

The next day we went AGAIN to the beach at the back of the hotel to play bodysurf. We also collected some shellfish before went home. After took a bath and ate a little bit. we went to Kedonganan Market in Jimbaran. In Kedonganan we picked a lot of seafood with a very cheap price then we just brought it to the roadside stalls and they will grill the seafood for us. After finished lunch, before back to airport, we visited Discovery Mall and also Jenggala. Then we departed from Bali and arrived in Bandung at 20:10.

Cycling 40 km :to Lembang

In August 2011 I was with four of my friends: Kelvin, Erick, Fenche, and Eng-Khim and we planned to make a short trip to Lembang. Finally, there were six of us (with my dad) decided to left on Saturday. In the morning we got up and got ready. At that time I myself used a hardtail mountain bike. At 7:00 we went through the usual route, which passes Cipaku started with a very steep hill so our front tires were often lifted. After passing the first hurdle, we continued climbing up the hill, but not too steep. After cycling for approximately 2.5 km we had a very brief rest, then started again. After that, we entered the route in the lush soil and rock terrain. The trip was even more difficult because the rocks were quite large. Then proceed with a little asphalt road and again some more soil path after 10 km and finally arrived in Lembang. In Lembang Fenche was leading the way to a place that is one of the favorite places for bikers in Bandung, which is in Rumah Kayu. At Rumah Kayu there are 2 food that is very well known among local bikers, namely "tahu rebus" and "cingcau hijau". Both of the food were really delicious. After eating about 20 to 30 minutes, we were going to return back to Bandung. As we were about to pay and go home, Fenche suddenly told that he had once made a journey from Lembang to Dago Pakar. Therefore, I became interested in the story and I encouraged  the team to try this route. Finally, the trip was led by Fenche again. The journey started from Rumah Kayu then passed a highway about 2.7 km and we arrived at the Hutan Dago Pakar. We got in and were charged Rp. 10,000 per person. The trip got off to a good distance coupled with the difficulty of the route as there are stairs so the bike had to be carried. Having cycled and walked for 9 km through the woods,we arrived in Goa Jepang. We, with our bike on our side, running across the cave that is long and dark and also cold. Then we continued our journey and out of Hutan Dago Pakar. Pretty good news, but the struggle had only begun when we climbed back in Green Dago Cikutra. Some people called this hill as the sky hill because the slope is remarkable. Due to the steep hill, my father had to push me and eric using his motorcycle for about 200 meters from the end of this hill. Finally we arrived at Punclut where we could take a rest and enjoy the young coconut. How fresh after the toughest fight of this crazy climbing. The rest of the trip was quite easy for it went down and down all the way, and finally got home safely. When I checked the odometer on my bike, I was very surprised, it turns out we all have a distance of 40 km!
